sophisticated & chic challenge

Through Influenster, I was challenged by Rimmel London to create a "sophisticated & chic" makeup look featuring their stay matte liquid mousse foundation.

When I think of "sophisticated," I automatically think of the office. And I know I've already told you my tricks for getting a courtroom-ready look, but my inspiration for "sophisticated & chic" was a bit different. Most days I'm not wearing a suit to work. Instead, a pencil skirt and cardigan are what I live in. I wanted to capture a makeup look that was as feminine and free as my standard office ensemble, and this is what I came up with.
I started with straight hair, because I consider that a bit more chic than my everyday waves. For my makeup, I aimed for classic and bold without going over the top. I decided the key was a palette of pinks and purples to achieve that feminine sophistication.
Of course, the flawless base to this look was Rimmel's stay matte foundation. (Which, fantastically, I received free from Influenster for testing purposes.) I use shade 091, light ivory. If you don't know about this foundation, go read all about it here.
On my eyes, I used Sephora's Moonshadow baked palette and focused specifically on creating an ombre with Grenada, Bermuda, and Figi. By "ombre" I simply mean I started with the darkest (Grenada) at the lash line onto the lid, filled the crease with the middle shade (Bermuda), and finished with the lightest (Fiji) up near the brow. I also swept St. Vincent, a shimmery champagne color, directly under the brow.
Finishing the eyes, I used Urban Decay's 24/7 Velvet glide-on pencil in black velvet and my current-favorite Buxom Lash Mascara in Blackest Black.
Really wanting to focus in on some soft pinks, I used Julep's Glow pore-minimizing blush in Peach Bellini (which is a much pinker shade than the name indicates) every so subtly on the apples of my cheeks.  Finally, and I think this is key, on my lips I used a combination of Bare Minerals Moxie lipstick in Get Ready and Julep lip gloss in Charming.
P.S. The eyeliner and lipstick were both scores from my latest Ipsy bag.
