put your hands up

This weekend I drove up to Madison, Wisconsin for the Big Ten Wrestling Championships. There was a particularly exciting moment during the semi-finals of the 197 lb match between Morgan McIntosh of Penn State and Iowa's Nathan Burak that had all of us Penn State fans on our feet. In overtime, Morgan got a reversal to win the match and advance to the finals (at about :20 in the video below). I jumped out of my seat, had my hands in the air, and waived them around like I just didn't care. Because you see, I didn't. (Care, that is.) I had been sitting in a full arena for hours and hours. I had watched more than 150 wrestling matches. It was warm. It was crowded. Yet I didn't care a bit about raising my arms and cheering for Morgan, because that morning I had applied Dove Advanced Care Nourished Beauty deodorant.

About a month ago, I received this deodorant complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. I haven't written about it before now because I feel like deodorant is something that can fluctuate in effectiveness from day to day. After using this product for a month, though, I feel ready to tell you what I think.

I absolutely love it. Here's why:

  • The smell. A lot of deodorants have to prove they're working by creating somewhat overpowering scents when they kick in. That isn't the case with this. There's a pleasant--yet subtle--floral scent that is never too much but never fails you, either.
  • It works. Dove claims this product "delivers 48-hour odor and wetness protection." Now I can't tell you whether the 48-hour bit is true. But I can tell you that I put this on each morning and don't have to reapply throughout the day, even when the day is spent watching what is quite possibly the sweatiest sport.
  • It nourishes. I always get razor burn on my underarms. And I always cringe when I then apply deodorant to the irritated and sensitive skin. But that cringing hasn't happened once in the last four weeks.
Prior to receiving this deodorant, I had used the same deodorant almost exclusively for nearly four years. After trying Advanced Care, though, I have a feeling that will no longer be the case.

While I received this product complimentary, I will never share opinions on this blog that are not entirely my own.
